Spring 2009 Workshops
Workshops will start the the week of February 8th and run for 10 weeks, 2 hours per week. These free workshops are open to the populations described below. Writing journals, pens, snacks and all materials are provided. Ask about transportation and childcare when you register.
Please note:
- Pre-registration is required, and it must be done by phone (NOT by email) - 503.796.9224.
- Workshops fill up quickly, so register early.
- Our office will have limited hours over the holidays, so please leave a voicemail message and we will call you back to confirm your registration.
- Priority registration will be given to people who have not previously participated in a Write Around Portland workshop.

Family and friends of military service members in Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns - Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm, downtown Portland
Helensview High School - open at-risk youth who are students at this alternative school
REACH Ritzdorf Apartments - open REACH tenants and other adults living on a low income and/or with a disability. Priority given to REACH tenants. Mondays, 6-8pm, SE Portland
Sexual Minority Youth Resource Center (SMYRC) - open to GLBTQ youth, Fridays, time TBA, SE Portland
Multnomah County Inverness Jail - incarcerated men
Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) Maple Mallory Building - open to HAP tenants and other adults living on a low income and/or with a disability. Priority given to HAP tenants, Thursdays 6-8pm, NE Portland
Housing Authority of Portland (HAP) NW Tower Building - open to HAP tenants and other adults living on a low income and/or with a disability. Priority given to HAP tenants, Tuesdays, 1-3pm Portland
First Unitarian Church/Mental Health Action Group - open to adults living with or affected by mental illness, Thursdays, 7-9pm, downtown Portland
Gilbert Park SUN School - open to adults living on a low income and/or with a disability living in the David Douglas school district in SE Portland
Youth Employment Institute - open to at risk youth and teen parents who are students at YEI
Bridge House - open to youth in Janus Youth's transitional housing program
LEP High School - ESL students at the school
Julia West House - open to guests of JWH and other adults living on a low income and/or with a disability, Mondays, 3:30 - 5:30pm, downtown Portland
Innovative Housing Inc. (IHI) Broadway Vantage Apartments - open to IHI tenants and other adults living on a low income and/or with a disability. Priority given to IHI tenants. Tuesdays, 5:30 - 7:30pm, NE Portland
Providence Elder Place Glendoveer - Seniors who living in this SE Portland assisted living center
Oregon State Hospital - adults living with mental illness, Salem
