Spring 2010 Writing Workshops

 

Workshops will start the the week of February 7th and run for 10 weeks, 2 hours per week. These free workshops are open to the populations described below. Writing journals, pens, light snacks and all materials are provided. Ask about bus tickets and childcare when you register.

 

Please note:

  • Pre-registration is required, and it must be done by phone (NOT by email) - 503.796.9224.
  • Workshops fill up quickly, so register early.
  • If you are not able to call us during normal business hours, please leave a voicemail message and we will call you back to confirm your registration.
  • Priority registration will be given to people who have not previously participated in a Write Around Portland workshop.

Independent Living Resources - adults with disabilities

Williams Plaza, Housing Authority of Portland - HAP residents living on a low income or with a disability

Full Life Coffee Shop - adults with developmental disabilities

Portland Women Crisis Line - adult survivors of sexual violence

Harvey Scott SUN School - 6th-8th graders in SUN School program

Coffee Creek Correctional Facility - women incarcerated at the state prison

Multnomah County Inverness Jail - men incarcerated at the count jail

Providence Elderplace Glendoveer - seniors in assisted living

Bradley Angle House - survivors of domestic and sexual violence

New Avenues for Youth - youth who are homeless

Patton Park, REACH CDC - REACH apartment residents and adults living on a low income or with a disability

University of Hope, McLaren Youth Correctional Facility - youth who are incarcerated

Volunteer of America Residential Center - women and men in residential drug & alcohol recovery

Multicultural Center - seniors living on a low income

 

 

We also have workshops for adults who are "Returning Writers" in our program:

Write On - open to adults who have participated in 2+ previous Write Around Portland workshops

Seasoned Writers - participant-facilitated group for those who have completed Write On
