Summer 2010 Writing Workshops

 

Most of the summer workshops will start mid-June and run for 8 weeks, 2 hours per week. These free workshops are open to the populations described and in partnership with the social services agencies listed below. Writing journals, pens, light snacks and all materials are provided. Ask about transportation and childcare when you register.

 

Please note:

  • Pre-registration is required, and it must be done by phone (NOT by email) - 503.796.9224.
  • Workshops fill up quickly, so register early.
  • If you are not able to call us during normal business hours, please leave a voicemail message and we will call you back to confirm your registration.
  • Priority registration will be given to people who have not previously participated in a Write Around Portland workshop.

Pettigrove Girls and Boys Aid - girls in residential living facility under Oregeon Youth Authority

The Jeffrey, Cascadia Housing - residents who are living on low income and who have experienced homelessness

Volunteers of America Men’s & Women’s Residential Centers - women in drug & alcohol treatment

Julia West House - adults receiving services at JWH and other adults who are homeless or living on a low income

Downtown Group - Adults who are living on a low income or with a disability

REACH/Patton Place - REACH residents and other adults who are living on a low income or with a disability

Multnomah Arts Center - Seniors who are living on a low income

Central City Concern - 12th Ave

Central City Concern - CEP

Multnomah County Inverness Jail - men who are incarcerated

We also have workshops for adults who are "Returning Writers" in our program:

Seasoned Writers - participant-facilitated group for those who have completed Write On

Pending:

Timberlake Job Corps - youth receiving job skills and GED
