In December, we published our 65th anthology titled I Was Always There — a compilation of pieces written by participants during our fall season of community writing groups. Now, that book is ready to make its way onto the shelves of independent bookstores throughout Portland.
How does the anthology make it there? Through the power of volunteers, of course. Twice per year, we put out a call for volunteers to help us deliver copies of anthologies to booksellers such as Powell’s City of Books, Broadway Books, Annie Bloom’s Books, Spoke & Words Books, BOLD Coffee and Books, Second Shapes Bookstore, and Mother Foucault’s Bookshop; as well as on loan at the Street Books library! You will see the anthology on shelves in early February.
The opportunity to have our books in these stores helps us reach a wider audience and spread the word about our healing programs. It is also very exciting for our published writers to see their work sitting on the shelf in their favorite bookstore.
