Your gift builds community in assisted living facilities
FOR THE PAST DECADE, donor support has brought something special to Whitewood Gardens residential care facility.
Thanks to you, elders like Esther were energized and inspired this fall. “I can’t wait to do it again! It was an excellent experience filled with imagination, fun, and expertise from the facilitator,” she said.
Your donations create lasting connections, too. “People get to know one another at a level that just doesn’t happen when you’re sitting at a table having breakfast,” said Chris Nelson, Life Enrichment Director at the facility. “Write Around Portland has a ripple effect, a resonant effect. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”
But you’re also addressing deeper needs. Program Manager Lilly Do said, “Especially with elders, there’s this sense of loneliness and also a lot of grappling with mortality. Writing in a safe space can be really helpful.”
And because participants all get to publish one piece in our anthology, they get to leave a lasting legacy as well.
