Our journal cupboard is looking pretty bare these days – but you can help! Each participant in our writing groups receives a free notebook to write in. It’s never collected back and never evaluated, remaining a private place to write whatever thoughts may come. It’s a simple tool that becomes a treasured keepsake.
With your help, we can provide notebooks and journals of every color and theme. Rather than give everyone the same journal, we love giving participants the option to select one that speaks to them. And we need your help to collect 300 notebooks by Sept. 15!
If you have a notebook to donate, please be sure it is larger than 5” x 7” and feel free to drop them off at Broadway Books (or purchase one at their store to donate) from Aug. 1 – Sept. 15. Alternatively, you can mail or drop them off at our office!

| Host Your Own Journal Drive! Maximize your impact by hosting your own journal drive. This could be your book club, at your gym, at your office or even at your Labor Day cook out. Pick a small group and invite them to bring one or two notebooks that are larger than 5” x 7” to your designated drop-off location before Sept. 15. You can then bring those items to our Write Around Portland office in downtown Portland or mail them to us. How to host your own journal drive: 1. Invite folks to donate new and unused journals at your designated collection site. 2. Set out a box or basket where your group already gathers. Add a note that says what you are collecting and why. 3. Bring in (or mail in) your donation to the Write Around Portland office at 133 SW 2nd Ave #304, Portland, OR 97204. |
Although it may seem small, acts of community care can help create a welcoming space for someone to write, reflect, and feel supported.
