In July, we mentioned that our journal cabinet was looking a bit worse for the wear. Today, we’re happy to share that the shelves are filling again with 123 new notebooks.
Our Journal Drive partner, Broadway Books, collected 98 notebooks in store for us, and at our downtown office we took in 25 more.
Journals are essential to our programs because they give each participant a private, special place to write. During a session, notebooks become filled with memories, questions, first drafts, and moments of discovery. They are never collected back or evaluated. Participants often share with us that the journal they received was one of the best parts of the program.

If you donated a notebook, shared the drive, stopped by Broadway Books, or helped spread the word, thank you. You are now part of the writing journey of one of your neighbors, helping make sure they get a tool that is theirs to keep.
Did you miss contributing during the Journal Drive? It’s not too late! You can still make an appointment to drop off notebooks in person at our office, mail them in, or make a financial donation that will go directly to purchasing journals.
