February is an especially great opportunity to share and discover more books, art, podcasts, and stories from our Black community members. We’d like to start with a 3-episode podcast focused on the displacement of Portland’s Black residents, Our Fires, which came out in 2021. The first episode features storyteller O.B. Hill, who survived the devastating Vanport flood of 1948. O.B. has participated in many Write Around Portland workshops and was published in our anthology Awake in Waves.
