Tears and laughter at Spring Reading & Book Release

We celebrated our inspiring writers at our Spring Reading & Book Release on Thursday, May 16.

44 writers bravely approached the microphone – the most in recent memory — sharing their work with more than 100 people in a packed house. There were tears, laughter, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude toward our amazing workshop facilitators.

Held at various locations around Portland, our Spring and Winter Readings celebrate the achievements of our workshop participants in agency workshops. Each participant is guaranteed the publication of one poetry or prose piece in that season’s anthology. These events offer participants from all over the Portland Metro area to gather together and hear each other’s work, as well as invite family and friends to learn about their writing experience.

While the Spring Reading may be over, we hope you’ll consider purchasing a copy of Countless Vibrant Lives, our 62nd anthology celebrating these writers!

Our Spring Season and Spring Reading were made possible by donations from community members and from the following foundations:

  • Autzen Foundation
  • H.W. and D.C.H. Irwin Foundation

  • James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation
  • Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation
